Wellness, Healing & Recovery Supports

HQMF is committed to supporting the wellness, healing, and long-term recovery of Survivors, their families, and future generations. Through a holistic approach that recognizes the connection between mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cultural wellbeing, HQMF works to increase access to culturally responsive supports and services across communities.

Mental Health & Wellness Supports

Access to quality mental health care is an essential part of healing. HQMF works to connect individuals with qualified counsellors, therapists, and wellness professionals who understand Indigenous experiences and approaches to healing. HQMF will also maintain information on approved mental health professionals to help individuals and communities identify culturally safe services in their region. HQMF promotes access to crisis response services, community-based wellness programs, and healing gatherings that foster connection, learning, and support.

Physical Wellness & Holistic Healing

HQMF recognizes that healing looks different for everyone and supports access to a variety of wellness opportunities, including alternative therapies, physical activity, nutrition education, recreation, and community-based wellness initiatives. Where possible, mobile wellness teams and visiting practitioners may provide services directly within communities to improve access and reduce barriers to care.

Intensive Recovery & Healing Programs

For those seeking deeper healing opportunities, HQMF supports specialized Indigenous wellness and recovery programs grounded in culture, identity, and community connection. Programs may include intensive healing workshops, trauma recovery initiatives, leadership development, and other culturally relevant approaches delivered in partnership with Indigenous facilitators, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and wellness organizations. Additional support may also be available to help individuals access specialized treatment and recovery services. More information on these supports will be posted in late August 2026.
