The Boarding Homes Foundation is dedicated to supporting Survivors of the Indian Boarding Homes Program and their descendants on their journey to healing, wellness, and cultural and family revitalization.
Wellness, Cultural and Healing Supports for Boarding Home Survivors
The Boarding Homes Foundation was established through the Indian Boarding Homes Project class action settlement. We aim to promote and support claimants, survivors, and their descendants in recovery, wellness, language reclamation, cultural resurgence, and commemoration.

Honouring Kenneth Weistche
R- Reg Percival - Lead Plaintiff (Percival v Canada)
L- Kenneth Weischte - Ontario Lead Plaintiff
Reg and Kenneth spent years securing a legal victory in their class action against the federal government (Percival v Canada). Their victory has led to compensation for the class of individuals who were removed from homes and communities and sent to “foster-type” boarding homes to complete middle and high school. Students suffered abuses and discrimination, and some never went to school; they were relegated to menial labour work instead. Sadly, Kenneth passed away in 2024, and in memory, the Foundation has established the Kenneth Weistche Memorial Scholarship.
