The Hitgwin! Qaumata Miyopimâtisiwin Foundation (HQMF), also known as the Indian Boarding Homes Foundation, has officially launched. The Foundation was created through the Indian Boarding Homes Program Class Action Settlement. HQMF will provide grants, scholarships, and bursaries to support healing and reconnection for Survivors and their descendants.
CEO Lisa Paul says Survivors’ stories guide the foundation’s daily work. Their experiences help keep the organization accountable for the support it provides and the messages it shares.
Board member Reginald Percival emphasizes that the program’s impacts have continued throughout Survivors’ lives. The foundation aims to help Survivors and descendants reconnect with family, culture, and language while supporting healing from the abuse and lasting harms they experienced.
